1. For drawing soft metals (such as gold and silver), steel dies are sufficient. Steel dies can have multiple holes of different diameters.
2. Carbide Dies – Carbide dies (Tungsten carbide nib) are generally used for drawing steel wire. The typical structure of this die is a cylindrical (or slightly tapered) carbide core tightly fitted into a circular steel case. The inner hole of the core contains a bell radius, an entrance cone, an approach angle, a bearing, and a back relief.
3. Steel Wire Dies – For drawing non-ferrous metals such as copper and aluminum, similar dies are often used, although the inner hole shape differs slightly.
4. Polycrystalline Dies – Polycrystalline dies (synthetic diamonds) can be used for drawing fine wires. There are also dies that use natural diamonds.
